Oklahoma State Regent Seeks University Presidency

July 16, 2007, 10:23 am

According to an article in The Daily O’Collegian, Burns Hargis resigned from the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma A&M Colleges on July 2 in order to seek the Oklahoma State University presidency. Hargis — who is vice chairman of the Bank of Oklahoma, an OSU alumnus, and a former candidate for Oklahoma governor — said it would be unethical to remain on the board, which will select the new president this fall, while pursuing the top job at OSU.

For more information see a press release on OSU’s Web site and an article in Tulsa World.
