The American Association of University Women reports that the House of Representatives passed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (HR 2831) by a vote of 225 to 199:
Introduced in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision in the Ledbetter v. Goodyear case, this bill clarifies that each discriminatory paycheck is in fact another act of discrimination. In doing so, (H.R. 2831) restores the law to how it was previously applied, and ensures that victims of pay discrimination can have their day in court.
Of course, the Senate has yet to vote on the bill, and last Friday the White House threatened to veto it, so it’s probably too soon to be celebrating.
