The University of California system is expected to name Mark G. Yudof, chancellor of the University of Texas system, as its next president, Paul Fain and Sara Hebel report today on The Chronicle’s Web site.
Florida lawmakers are questioning the practice of allowing public-university foundations to supplement the pay and benefits of the system chancellor, Mark Rosenberg, The Palm Beach Post reports. See an item on The Chronicle’s News Blog for more details.
Glen Poshard, president of Southern Illinois University, said this week that he was putting Fernando M. Treviño, chancellor of the university’s Carbondale campus, on administrative leave, Charles Huckabee writes elsewhere on the News Blog.
Part-time faculty members, librarians, and teaching assistants at Wilfrid Laurier University went on strike earlier this week, the Canadian Press reports.
