And speaking of Wisconsin (see a previous blog entry) …

An op-ed piece by Erik Opsal in The Daily Cardinal says it’s no wonder that professors at the University of Wisconsin at Madison are leaving for greener pastures — they earn significantly less than their colleagues at comparable universities:

Due to low salaries, many of our best professors—seven from the political science department alone—have left. According to a report from the American Association of University Professors, UW-Madison’s median salary is 10.2 percent lower than its peer institutions, which is approximately $14,000 less per year for full professors.
