University of California at Irvine officials are doing damage control after last week’s controversial decision by the chancellor to retract an offer made to Erwin Chemerinsky, a renowned liberal legal scholar, to be Irvine’s inaugural law-school dean, Katherine Mangan reports today on The Chronicle’s Web site. Efforts are reportedly under way to retract the retraction and reinstate Chemerinsky, Mangan writes. Read more.
