Twenty Antioch College faculty members filed suit against the Board of Trustees of Antioch University on Tuesday in an attempt to stop the planned closure of the college next July, The Chronicle’s News Blog reports. Antioch University includes the college, in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and five other campuses.
The lawsuit asserts that the trustees violated their contractual responsibilities by declaring financial exigency and suspending operations on the campus without first consulting with the faculty or considering less-extreme solutions to the college’s financial woes, the reporter, Paul Fain, writes.
The faculty members also filed a request for an injunction that would prevent the board from shutting down the college while the lawsuit is pending, he writes.
