University College London announced Thursday that it will become the first British university to open an outpost in Education City, in Doha, Qatar. The campus, at which 150 master’s-degree students and researchers will eventually be based, will focus on archaeology, conservation, and museum studies. The program is being established in conjunction with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development and the Qatar Museums Authority. Courses will use facilities at Education City as well as local museums and archaeological sites and, according to the university’s press release, “a wide range of bespoke training courses will be provided” for local museum and heritage professionals.
