Universities from the United States, Britain, China, and India want to set up campuses in Malaysia, reports Bernama, the official Malaysian news agency. Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that the government wanted to make Malaysia a hub for higher education and that he had spoken with China’s minister of education about possible cooperation. Mr. Khaled added that India’s prime minister, Manmohan Singh, will visit Malaysia in late October, when more information on possible linkages will be made public. Britain’s University of Nottingham has already set up a Malaysia campus, and three Australian institutions, Monash University, Curtin University of Technology, and Swinburne University of Technology, have established campuses there.
