Oregon State University plans to help Iraqi universities create programs in sustainable engineering, reports The Oregonian. The partnership will include faculty and student exchanges, programs in energy and water conservation, and courses on environmentally friendly construction. George Pernsteiner, chancellor of the Oregon University system, said the focus of these projects would not be on politics, but on food, water, renewable energy, and other basic needs.
