Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research opened a new office to help university researchers and students develop patents for their scientific discoveries, reports Iraq Directory, a news Web site. “There are a lot of hidden innovations in the Iraqi universities,” said Siham al-Shujairi, spokeswoman for the ministry. She said the inventions of Iraqi students will be promoted at an event next year as part of the new office’s efforts.
