Chinese Business School to Offer Classes in Britain

September 14, 2011, 5:48 pm

The Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business has opened an office in London, making it the first business school from mainland China to establish an overseas branch, reports Xinhua, the official news agency of China. The London office will offer courses to executives in Europe interested in working in Asia. Cheung Kong, based in Beijing, is a private, nonprofit institution supported by the Hong Kong businessman and philanthropist Li Ka-shing.

During the official opening of the office last week, the dean, Xiang Bing, said the facility in London “will expand our research and teaching collaborations with leading U.K. and European universities and business schools.”

According to AP, “The school was supposed to get 50 free copies once the book was published, but it no longer plans to publish it in traditional bound form. Drake said the school is attempting to put it online.”

Attempting to put it on line?

That statement raises a lot of questions about the school’s technology abilities that are more than likely totally false and only reflect badly on the faculty and staff. Of course, from an administrative standpoint, it probably sounds better than saying they are too embarrassed to put it on line. The other thing they are trying to avoid seems to be the need to admit to the fact that Haridopolos was officially on a four year leave of absence while he wrote it. Not bad for an adjunct professor, who is also by his own accounting an anti-big government fiscal conservative.

BTW the Orland Sentinnel has an article that provides informative insights into the advice given in the book, such as “At a minimum, a candidate must know his own position on all the important issues.” it’s nice to know that Florida’s students will benefit from such excellent insights – if they can can ever get to the book. Of course, there is always the consolation of knowing that it probably hasn’t been colored in yet – so it may retain its value as a collectors item – if there was only some demand for it.
