A former Michigan State University biochemist who has led a campaign in China against plagiarism and phony academic credentials was attacked on Sunday by two men, reports China Daily. Fang Zhouzi, who suffered minor injuries, was assaulted with pepper spray and a hammer near his home, in Beijing. He blamed the attack on his decade-long campaign against pseudoscience and academic fraud. “I will not be frightened and will stick to what I have been doing,” he said. Mr. Fang, known as the “science cop,” made international headlines this year when he accused a former chief executive of Microsoft China of purchasing a fake U.S. degree.
