Canadian Universities Offer More Programs for Aboriginal Students

Most Canadian universities say they have beefed up their programs for aboriginal students and put more money and other resources into support and facilities for the students, according to a report released today by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada that compares the situation with five years ago. Canada’s aboriginal population is growing at three times the national average, yet they remain underrepresented in higher education. The association’s president, Paul Davidson, said in a written statement that the report illustrates “remarkable innovation on campuses to address aboriginal-student needs.”
