Australian Universities Brace for Decline in International Applications

Australia’s higher-education system is bracing for a reduction in the applications of foreign students after the immigration minister, Chris Evans, this week released a new, truncated “skilled migration” list, reports the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The list states what occupations could lead to permanent residency in the country. With the shortened list, educational institutions say that thousands of students are looking to other countries, like Canada, to satisfy their higher-education and migration aspirations.
