The Australian government has approved a new “qualifications framework” for higher education, establishing criteria for bachelor’s and master’s degrees and setting out what a graduate of a particular major is expected to know. Universities had lobbied for more flexibility in the use of degree titles, reports The Australian newspaper. Universities have also objected that the government is moving forward with the framework even though discussions about a new regulatory agency have not finished.
