'Dude! What's Up With the Bible?!?'

Down through the ages, man has grappled with theological questions such as “Does God exist?” and “Why is there suffering?” and, of course, “Dude! What’s up with the Bible?!?”

Finding the answer is the stated purpose of Bible Dudes, a blog run by Michael M. Homan and Jeffrey C. Geoghegan, both professors of theology, at Xavier University of Louisiana and Boston College, respectively.

Among the other regular contributors to the blog are Cleopatra, “a beautiful and sophisticated dromedary,” and Methuselah, described as a “crotchety old donkey.” I’m not sure what to make of that either. If you want to have a disembodied foot explain that Ketuvim means “writings” in Hebrew, then this is the Web site for you.

Along with the silliness — and, boy, there is a lot of it — there is also some substance. Cleopatra, the cartoon dromedary, recently posted about speculation that Moses was high on hallucinogens when he chatted with the Almighty on Mount Sinai.
