The Price Is Right for Drury University
Bob Barker, the former host of the game show The Price Is Right and a 1947 graduate of Drury University, has put his opening bid on an undergraduate animal-ethics program at his alma mater.
Mr. Barker is giving Drury $1-million for the program, the Associated Press reported. Mr. Barker, an animal-rights activist, has already donated millions for similar programs at the law schools of Harvard, Columbia, and Northwestern Universities.
“It’s incredible that I ever was able to go back to Springfield and give them a million dollars, because when I was there, I didn’t have 15 cents,” Barker told the Associated Press. “What I’m hoping is that this will become a model for other undergraduate schools.”
