Clinton's College Years: How Wellesley and Yale Shaped a Presidential Candidate

As a college student in the 1960’s, Hillary Rodham Clinton developed a passion for social issues that continues to inform her approach to higher education.

In the second of our series of profiles of the leading presidential candidates, we explore Ms. Clinton’s transformation from Goldwater Girl to antiwar Democrat and trace her emergence as a skilled negotiator. We also examine her Senate record, focusing on her twin passions of expanding college access to nontraditional students and of making student loans more borrower-friendly.

  1. Your article was interesting and informative. This is an interesting candidate who shows promise to unify diverse constituencies around a fiscally prudent, socially progressive inclusive agenda forged from that preference to negotiate. I am a Republican who finds great appeal in that combination. The USA is long overdue for dynamic leadership from a woman of this caliber as well.
