Welcome to AAAS Conference Coverage

Welcome to our coverage of the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (known familiarly as AAAS), taking place in Boston. During the next four days, we’ll bring you breaking news and analysis from the most prominent gathering of scientists in the world.

This meeting is where science struts its stuff and meets public policy. The Nobel Prize-winner David Baltimore will be speaking, and Paul Kagame, president of Rwanda, will deliver a special address on the link between science, education, and development. There will be more than 150 special sessions on everything from astronomy to zoology.

The gathering also features career workshops with job information for academic researchers, and a “town meeting” with the general public on the hot topic of obesity and health.

We will have reports from sessions, gossip from the hallways and the exhibit halls, and analysis of where American science is heading.
