U. of Pennsylvania Chooses Viñoly for New Biomedical Building

June 29, 2007, 7:31 pm

Rafael Viñoly Architects will design a $370-million biomedical-research building for the University of Pennsylvania.

According to a university news release, the 10-story building will open in 2010 and will house research projects that bring together a range of medical disciplines. It will have both laboratories and clinical facilities, and will connect with two buildings currently under construction near the university’s hospital — the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, a joint undertaking of Perkins Eastman and Mr. Viñoly’s firm, and the Roberts Proton Therapy Center, designed by Tsoi/Kobus and Associates.

Other Viñoly buildings on university campuses include the Information Sciences and Technology Building at Pennsylvania State University at University Park, the Carl Icahn Laboratory at Princeton University, and the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago.
