The Struggle to Pay for Energy-Efficiency Projects in a Bad Economy

A story in this week’s Chronicle describes Utica College’s plans to improve energy efficiency on its campus — along with its struggle to pay for such projects in economically turbulent times. One of the barriers is the recent drop in energy prices, which lowers the incentive to buy efficiency equipment. In a companion article, Steve Bellona, our past guest blogger who is the associate vice president for facilities and planning at Hamilton College, describes how he justifies energy-saving projects these days.
