Sustainable Sites Report Now Available for Review

November 2, 2007, 7:43 am

A preliminary report on the standards and guidelines of the Sustainable Sites Initiative is now available.

The Sustainable Sites Initiative is a green-landscaping rating system — which is like LEED for the land — now under development by the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin, and the United States Botanic Garden.

Those organizations hope to get feedback on this report. Comments are due by January 11, 2008. A new draft will come out next October, and a final draft will arrive in May 2009. A rating system is planned to be out by 2011.
