The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education announced today that more than 90 colleges have signed up to test out the new Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System, or STARS. The system is designed to give colleges some idea of how their efforts in sustainability compare with peers’ and to provide some incentive for improvement. The first version of the rating system should be ready for all colleges by 2009.
