The Chronicle reports today on Boston College’s master plan for $800-million in construction around its campus — including on land that was once owned by the Archdiocese of Boston. The archdiocese sold that land over the past few years to pay off a settlement in a class-action lawsuit stemming from the sexual-abuse scandals involving priests.

The master plan was designed by Sasaki Associates. It includes:

Four new academic buildings: an 85,000-square-foot student center and dining hall, a 125,000-square-foot humanities building, a 75,000-square-foot building for the nursing school, and a 100,000-square-foot sciences building

Athletic facilites: a 200,000 square-foot student recreation complex and fields for baseball, softball, and soccer

Student structures: a 285,000 square-foot university center and residence halls to accommodate 610 beds

A fine arts district, including a museum and auditorium

Jesuit housing for the school of theology

The land sale also included about a dozen archdiocese buildings. They will be renovated and resused as offices. The bishop’s mansion may become a conference center. (The archdiocese relocated to a business park south of Boston.)

Architects for the various projects have not been chosen.
