NIH Invites Bids on $1-Billion in Facilities Money

March 11, 2009, 2:31 am

Washington — The money is coming!

Just three weeks after President Obama signed the $787-billion economic-stimulus measure, the National Institutes of Health said today it was inviting applications for grants.

The NIH is getting $10.4-billion from the stimulus legislation, and the first available portion will be the $1-billion set aside for colleges and universities seeking to build or repair biomedical- or behavioral-research facilities.

The deadline for applications is September 17, and the NIH will accept requests ranging from $1-million to $10-million. —Paul Basken
