In the Works: Buildings at U. of New Haven, U. of North Texas, and U. of Redlands

The University of New Haven has broken ground on a sleek $9.4-million building for its Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science. The 15,649-square-foot facility, designed by Sasaki Associates, will house classrooms, labs, and virtual crime-scene training modules, as well as facilities for training forensic-sciences students with new technology. The building is due to open in 2010.

The University of North Texas has unveiled plans for a 180,000-square-foot Business Leadership Building that is intended to support 8,000 business students. The building, by Polshek Partnership Architects, will have 15,000 square feet of classroom space, 149 faculty offices, study rooms, a cafe, and an atrium. Completion is scheduled for 2011.

And the University of Redlands is nearly finished with construction of a $24-million Center for the Arts that is expected to open in January. The project will add a 125-seat black-box theater to an existing 325-seat proscenium theater, and also add studios, classrooms, offices. and rehearsal areas.
