Emporia State U. Plans to Sell a Historic Carnegie Library

Emporia State University plans to sell a 106-year-old library building constructed by Andrew Carnegie, according to a story in The Emporia Gazette.

Anderson Memorial Library, which originally was built for the College of Emporia, houses the university archive. Emporia State officials decided that they wanted to relocate the university archives to the university library, which is undergoing a renovation.

University officials say that the Anderson library is in excellent shape but may require updates for access for people with disabilities. Officials don’t know when they will list the building; no price is discussed in the story.
