Chapel Hill’s Mystery Building Perplexes Students

It’s a bad dream come true: Students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have been busy searching for their classes in a mysterious building that doesn’t show up on campus maps or on the university’s Web site.

According to the Daily Tar Heel, the student newspaper, a building called Chapman Hall that was opened last fall has yet to make it onto most campus maps, at least not with the “Chapman Hall” name. It does appear on some maps as “Phillips Addition” — Phillips being the building it sits next to. The building, located near the Carolina Inn, contains lecture halls and labs for science courses.

Searching for “Chapman” on the university’s Web site was no help, students discovered as they tried to figure out where to go for classes. “When you type the name, it says ‘Does Not Exist,’” one senior told the newspaper. “Finally, a girl in Student Stores tipped me off.”
