Engel Hall includes specialized labs for nursing and life sciences, classrooms, faculty offices, and support spaces. This building, the first new construction at the college’s Williams campus, was sited so that it begins defining a campus core and was designed to set an architectural standard for the campus. It was also designed to preserve views, establish a presence on a main road, and offer shaded spaces for informal gatherings. The project included creation of 300 parking spaces and construction of a central utility plant capable of supporting the whole campus. It has received a LEED gold certification.
