The Berklee College of Music is opening a new college in Spain, which will be known as Berklee Valencia. Construction of the building that will house the new college began last month. The building, a tower designed by Antón Garcia-Abril, will feature the latest technology for music performance and instruction, and it will include a sound stage that Berklee says will be “the largest, best equipped in Europe.”

Sociedad General de Autores y Editores — or SGAE, the Spanish creators’ rights organization — worked with the college and the government of Valencia to set up the new campus. The Valencian government contributed a four-acre parcel of land to the project.

Mr. Garcia-Abril is a rising young architect in Europe. Concert halls, music schools, and other arts venues have been among his most notable buildings.
