2 San Francisco Institutions Will Share a New Building

Peter Pfau, of Pfau Architecture, stopped by The Chronicle to discuss recent projects. Among them was the one pictured here, an academic facility that will open in 2010 and will be shared by City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University. The 85,000-square-foot structure employs a number of green-design principles, including a green roof (below) and natural ventilation. The project is expected to cost $35-million. —Scott Carlson
