It looks like the Chancellor of UC Riverside will be the star of Undercover Boss this week. I’ve never watched the show but its teasers seem to suggest that the bosses are supposed to be learning valuable things about their organizations that will help them through tough economic times. If the trailer for the chancellor’s episode is any indication, he’s not learning much. He makes a fool of

himself reading complex scientific terms in a lecture hall and can’t walk backwards as well as the student tour guide. I look forward to finding out whether he spends time as a “freeway flier,” seeing the lives of adjuncts up close or gets stuck in an introductory class with an incompetent graduate student at the front of it. Or maybe he can chat with students about rising tuition? That would make for some good dramatic television.
