This weekend came news that former Arkansas governor, 2008 presidential candidate, and Fox News celebrity Mike Huckabee will not be seeking the GOP presidential nomination (“All the factors say go, but my heart says no.”)

What follows are some FAQ’s about what Huckabee termed a “spiritual” decision:

Who is most saddened by his departure?: Journalists. I can’t begin to describe how many reporters covering the caucuses and primaries in 2008, even liberal ones, just loved themselves the Huck.

Journos usually engage in a little harmless conversational foreplay before doing interviews with professors. What I remember distinctly about 2008 is how many of them would tell me what a swell guy he was.

There was Huck asking about their wife and kids (by name). There was Huck pouring them a Fresca. Huck thanking them earnestly for being as so kind as to cover his campaign….
