A clarification

One of my favorite professors in grad school used to tell us that all of our ideas were brilliant and could be turned into a journal article. “Anything–research, teaching, service–can be a journal article,” she would assure us.

After having read two weakass journal article submissions, let me clarify:

Only good ideas 

that contribute something new to the literature

and that are written well and thoughtfully

can and should be journal articles.

That is all.
