'West Wing' Writer Is Working on Movie About Facebook

Aaron Sorkin, creator of “The West Wing,” is working on a Hollywood film about Facebook, and he’s started a Facebook group asking users to help explain the culture of the social network to him.

“I honestly don’t know how this works, which is why I’m here,” the message posted to the group from Mr. Sorkin says. “If anyone has any comments I’m glad to listen. And if anyone has any Facebook stories I think they might be helpful.”

It seems like a possible hoax, but an article in The Los Angeles Times said the Sorkin film about Facebook is actually in the works.

The group has attracted more than 700 comments from a variety of Facebook users. Some of them wonder which actor should play Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder. (Martin Sheen was one suggestion.) Some ask Mr. Sorkin to be their Facebook friend. Others worry that the online network might not play well on the big screen (“what a boring film!!!!!” one user wrote).—Jeffrey R. Young
