Web Pioneer Scolds Web Designers
Tim Berners-Lee, the scientist often credited with inventing the World Wide Web, plays the role of taskmaster in a video he made for One Web Day. The celebration of the Web, which takes place tomorrow, features events in selected cities where people gather to show and discuss how the Web has made everyone’s lives richer.
Mr. Berners-Lee tells people in the video to avoid “Web rot.” Too often, he says, people design Web sites carelessly. “They don’t make good HTML, they don’t close their tags, they put semicolons where they shouldn’t be.” —-Andrea L. Foster
