U. of Florida Tells Its Students Not to Redirect Their E-Mail
Can a college force students to read their e-mail? Officials at the University of Florida may find out.
As of this fall, university administrators, concerned that students were ignoring important campuswide messages, will not allow students to forward e-mail messages from their university accounts to other accounts. Officials say they’re enforcing the new rule because many commercial accounts popular with students—like Hotmail and America Online—come with spam filters that automatically block out mass e-mail messages about financial and academic requirements.
