U. of California Doctor Wins Round in Lawsuit Over His Criticism of Prayer Study

Bruce L. Flamm, a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California at Irvine, has won another court battle in his defense against a defamation lawsuit filed by Kwang Y. Cha, a South Korean fertility specialist. In an opinion filed last week, the California Court of Appeal upheld a lower court's decision to dismiss the lawsuit. The case stemmed from Dr. Flamm's criticism of a published study in which Dr. Cha said that prayer by anonymous people in North America and Australia could double the chances of success for women undergoing fertilization procedures in South Korea.
