The Business of Education

The Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities and the State University of New York is developing an online portal to help users find higher-education resources that can promote economic interests in the state. The portal, to be paid for with $2.5-million of state money, is scheduled to go live sometime in 2007. The plan is for the portal to connect businesses with experts, facilities, and equipment at the state’s universities and also help graduating students find jobs and internships to aid them with the start of their careers. Officials also expect the portal to provide an international reach to companies overseas that wish to do business in the State of New York. —Dan Carnevale
