Sustainability Conference: How to Get Off Energy Credits and On Offsets
Raleigh, N.C. — Xarissa Holdaway of the National Wildlife Federation wrote up an Association for the Advancement for Sustainability in Higher Education session about how to shift from renewable-energy credits to offsets. The session was led by David Newport, the sustainability director at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
To Mr. Newport’s surprise, Ms. Holdaway writes, the discussion “didn’t degenerate into fisticuffs or even a red-faced screaming match.”
Sounds enticing. In fact, there has been a lot of discussion among sustainability advocates about the relative merits of renewable-energy credits and offsets. The issue is discussed in a recent Chronicle article.
Ms. Holdaway also covered Vandana Shiva’s talk.
