Students Prefer Portable Machines
Students are increasingly favoring mobile computers, according to a recent study of undergraduates’ use of technology by the Educause Center for Applied Research.
The study shows that 76 percent of students polled earlier this year own a personal laptop, up from 68 percent in 2006. But only 58 percent of students own a personal desktop computer, down from 69 percent last year.
The use of portable electronic music players, such as iPods, soared from 60 percent of students last year to 75 percent this year.—-Andrea L. Foster
