Students Honored for Computer-Science Research

The Association of Computing Machinery last week announced the winners of the student research competition, which honors graduate and undergraduate work in the United States, Canada, and Europe in computer science. The winning research projects were on topics such as computer graphics, programming tools, wireless networks, mobile-phone design, Web browsers for the visually impaired, and grid computing. The winners received cash prizes ranging from $200 to $1,000. The competition was sponsored by Microsoft.--Andrea L. Foster
