Student Accused of Hacking Faces a Stiff Sentence
A student at the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater faces at least 19 years in prison for allegedly hacking into campus computers that contained passwords and examination answers, according to The Janesville Gazette.
The student, Michael W. Mraz Jr., is accused of installing a program called Keylogger on the machines of four university employees. Keylogger records a computer user's keystrokes and takes screenshots detailing his or her activity. It appears Mr. Mraz may have used the software to view exam answer keys, discussions of student discipline, and information from a police investigation.
Mr. Mraz will be arraigned next Friday on felony charges. --Brock Read
