RIAA Sends More 'Prelitigation' Letters

The Recording Industry Association of America has fired off its fourth monthly batch of prelitigation settlement messges, asking this time that the notices be passed along to 402 song-swapping suspects at 13 universities. As in previous months, the notices direct students to a Web site and a telephone hotline through which they can settle copyright-infringement claims out of court.

The institutions receiving this month's letters are Brandeis, Duke, Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Syracuse, and Tufts Universities; the Universities of Georgia, Iowa, Southern California, South Florida, and Tennessee; the University of Texas at Austin; and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. --Brock Read
