Oxford and Cambridge Take Their Rivalry Into the 21st Century
The Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, which have battled each other in rowing races on the Thames River since 1829, will now float together through streams of video and audio, according to The Guardian.
According to the newspaper, hundreds of hours of video and audio from both universities will now be available on iTunes U. However, the newspaper said, the universities do not want the new move to increase the rivalry. They’ll save that for the rowing race, which, according to its Web site, Cambridge currently leads 79-73. Instead, the newspaper points out, the universities hope the podcasts will reach a larger audience.
iTunes U has been used by several American universities, including Stanford and Yale Universities, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Southern California.—David DeBolt
