Library at Salem State College Closes Amid Structural Concerns
Officials at Salem State College, in Massachusetts, have closed the university library, citing concerns about the structural integrity of the building, according to a Library Journal article.
Officials told Library Journal that the building is not about to fall down, but that structural engineers “have serious concerns” about the structure and are not able to completely examine the building at the moment.
Closing the library is a blow to the college, the article notes, not just because it is the central academic building but also because it houses classrooms and faculty offices, among other services.
