Lawmakers Say South Dakota Should Spring for a Faster Internet

If South Dakota wants to give its colleges and businesses a more robust Internet, it might have to fork over as much as $14-million. According to some lawmakers, it's an investment the state can't afford not to make.

A number of legislators say South Dakota needs a proposed high-speed network, called I3 Internet, if the state wants to lure research laboratories and the like. But Mike Rounds, the state's governor, has made no accommodation for the upgrade in his newly released yearly budget, according to the American News of Aberdeen. South Dakota's legislature is expected to discuss issue this week. --Brock Read
