Judge Orders Delay in Deadline for Controversial Fighting Sioux Nickname
A state judge has told the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education that it may not retire the University of North Dakota's controversial Fighting Sioux nickname until a hearing is held next month, the Grand Forks Herald reported. The hearing is scheduled in a lawsuit filed by members of the Spirit Lake Sioux, who favor letting the nickname stand. The board has twice extended its deadline for settling the controversy and is waiting to hear from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe on whether it will vote on the issue.

Hoka Hey! It is a good day to not die! If both groups vote to let the name stand, watch the NCAA change the rules and up the ante to three. After all, there are the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota.

At least the UND logo is rather pleasant looking. How come every tribe doesn't sue Cleveland for their really offensive leering Indian logo? There do seem to be hundreds of tribes suddenly appearing - perhaps when a dozen people get together, claim native American ancestry and open a casino or sell cheap cigarettes.
My local team is called "Fighting Scots". How come they are not sued by Glasgow and Edinburgh?
