Molloy College has broken ground for $28.6-million campus center that will be the Roman Catholic institution's first new building since 1992. Designed by Butler Rogers Baskett Architects, the 57,000-square-foot structure will have a 550-seat theater, an art gallery, rehearsal and office space for the music department, a cafe, a bookstore, offices for student organizations, and lounge and study space. It is due to open in 2011.

UrsinusUrsinus College is renovating and expanding its Berman Museum of Art, which is housed in a 1921 structure built as the college's library. The $5-million project (left; Ursinus College image) is expected to take 10 months. It will add 4,200 square feet to the museum and create an open-storage system intended to let visitors see much more of the museum's permanent collection than they could previously. The project, designed by Towers & Miller Architects, will also add another gallery, a study center for works on paper, and a rooftop sculpture garden.

Kansas State U.Kansas State University is completing a building for its School of Leadership Studies (left; Kansas State U. photo). The two-story, 36,000-square-foot building, designed by Opus Corporation, will have a 220-seat auditorium, a cafe, meeting space for seminars and classes, faculty offices, and offices for the school's Cargill Center for Ethical Leadership. The project, estimated at $11-million, is expected to earn LEED silver certification.

An "art galley?" Is that where they will cook the art?

Thanks for the heads-up -- I've fixed that.
