Hundreds of Palestinian Students Are Blocked From Travel to Foreign Universities
With the 2009-10 academic year under way, 838 Palestinian students are still waiting for the authorization that will enable them to leave the Gaza Strip for overseas universities. The Israeli human-rights group Gisha-Legal Center for Freedom of Movement says that 1,983 such students have been accepted into educational institutions abroad and registered for permits to exit via the Rafah border crossing since the start of the year, but only 1,145 have managed to pass through the crossing because of Egyptian restrictions. Approximately 50 other students have left via Israel through the Erez crossing.

I'm npt Jewish, butit appears to me that the comment of #1 is very anti-Jewish. I think the article said, that a sizable number of students had not been able to leave Israel because of "Egyptian restriction." What does that have to do with democracy "Israel style"? Shame on you!

Israel, like the US, does its very best to defend its citizens from terrorism. Hamas, the ruling entity in Gaza, has sworn to "destroy Israel". Moreover, Hamas is treated by Egypt as an hostile group. Obviously, Egypt--and other Arab countries--have their own problems with Hamas. So, dear lefties, let's not blame Israel (or the US for that matter) for all the world's ills.

#1's comment appears to have been based on a knee-jerk reaction (as was #3's "dear lefties" snear) but here is a quote from the linked article:
"According to Gisha the Legal Center for Freedom of Movement, the students cannot leave the Strip due to the Israeli blockade on Gaza."
So it appears that Israeli policies are at least part of the reason the students are still stuck in Gaza.
